Fair Game??

Fair Game??
By Joe Harrison

We have discovered that there are agencies and groups out there training with what are called “no more hesitation targets” and they include a 10 year old kid, a pregnant woman, and an old woman, among others. Personally, being a veteran of law enforcement and the survivor of several shoot outs, I would much rather deal with the fact that I was shot by a 10 year old kid than to live with having killed the kid myself, but hey, maybe I am just funny that way. Being from a southern Scotch-Irish culture where we believe in protecting our women, children and elders at all costs, we consider this training to be a direct threat. Because of this, I have adjusted the training of those in my group accordingly. Anyone who has ever had any firearms training has been taught to shoot for center body mass. In our new training scenario we are going to be facing a para-military group that has armed and equipped themselves just as if they were a military force or pretty much just like an organization like DHS would do.
These guys are real nut jobs and they are coming after our guns, ammo and any other resources we have. They have been training with the no more hesitation targets and are ready to kill to get what they are after. Because they are equipped just like federal agents would be, they are wearing body armor from their belt to their head, so the strategy of center body mass shots would not be effective. They have us outnumbered and outgunned so we are forced to result to guerilla war tactics. There is no way we can shoot it out with them and expect to win, so strategy will be the key.
Even though they are well covered with body armor, there are still some very vulnerable spots on them; we just have to get trained up on hitting them. For my long range sniper, his kill shot targets will be to the throat or chin area, or if possible, to the armpit, these areas will not be covered by body armor.
Now keep in mind, we are outnumbered and cannot shoot it out one on one with these guys. It is more important to take away their will to continue the fight rather than to score kill shots. If this does not make sense to you, then picture this: Bill and Ted are members of the force, they are best friends. As the force is advancing, Bill gets hit in the throat and immediately dies from a sniper round. Ted is now enraged and his will to fight is stronger than ever, he is looking for revenge and will not stop fighting until he is killed. Now if Bill and Ted are advancing and Bill is hit in the thighs with a load of buckshot, he will surely hit the ground screaming. Ted is no longer concerned with fighting, his main goal is now to help Bill and get him to safety. There is no way that Ted can do this alone so he calls some of their friends to help him. Someone has now used one shotgun shell to remove at least four people from the fight. Imagine if this happened to six members of the force all at once. Six people all bleeding and screaming for help. Most of them will die because there is a better than good chance that their femoral arteries have been damaged and they will bleed to death. They will have to employ some sort of heavy weapon to cover them while they remove their wounded. That is where my sniper comes in with his kill shots to the operators of the heavy weapons. How long do you think this superior force will continue to fight?
So now we have adjusted our training to shoot for the area between the belt and the knees. There is no body armor cover there. If the thigh area is hit, the femoral artery will probably be damaged and the target will eventually bleed to death. If the groin is hit…well, we don’t have to discuss how demoralizing that can be. If the buttocks are hit, there is a good chance of doing damage to internal organs, if not, at the very least, the target will lose mobility and have to be carried by other members of the force.
My sniper continues to train for kill shots but instead of center body mass, he now focuses on the lower face and throat area and the armpits. This is our counter strategy for those who want to train with targets of our women and children. We will show no mercy for those who would use such a cowardly strategy. Surrender will not be an option for them, and if they retreat, we will continue to attack.
Hopefully, we will never come face to face with this scenario; however, we will be ready if we do. I hope that you will be able to get some useful information from our training scenario to use in your own.
They have officially poked the bear one time too many.
Stay strong and never forget, the one with the strongest will always wins in the end.

"They have us outnumbered and outgunned so we are forced to result to guerilla war tactics", this is what I stress the most. We must use small unit tactics to win against superior force...
